Slipknot has officially announced “Slipknot (25th Anniversary Edition)”, a deluxe reissue celebrating the landmark debut album that launched them into metal stardom in 1999. Arriving September 5, 2025 via Roadrunner Records, the special edition commemorates the raw energy, chaotic creativity, and unrelenting ambition that defined the Iowa nine’s explosive entry into heavy music.
Earlier this week, SLIPKNOT dropped a special, ultra-limited edition box set exclusively to fans via their secret site 742617000027.net. Limited to just 100 blood-filled vinyl copies, the exclusive version sold out within seconds—crashing the site in the process.

Formats & Pre-Orders
Now available for general pre-order are:
- 6LP Box Set featuring blood-splattered vinyl (limited to 1899 copies)
- 2LP and 2CD editions
- Digital and streaming versions
These formats include the Ross Robinson-produced original album, never-before-heard demos, alternate versions, and test mixes sourced directly from the original studio sessions at SR Audio and Indigo Ranch.
What’s Inside the Deluxe Edition
This edition offers the full behind-the-scenes look at SLIPKNOT’s recording process, with rare tracks that even most fans have never heard. These demos and alternate takes illustrate the creative decisions that led to the definitive versions we now consider classics.
Today, SLIPKNOT shared one of those rarities — an unreleased demo of “Prosthetics” recorded before entering Indigo Ranch. It marks the earliest glimpse into the band’s evolution at that pivotal moment.
Unleashed on Stage: Early Live Recordings
In addition to studio material, the reissue includes restored live recordings that trace SLIPKNOT’s meteoric rise. These performances, captured on soundboard DATs, include:
- A 1999 show in Hartford, CT at the 1,200-cap Webster Theater
- Electrifying main stage sets from the U.K. and Iowa in 2000
Each recording has been carefully remixed and remastered and handpicked by the band to represent their intensity and impact during those formative years.

Legacy of a Metal Milestone
Released on June 29, 1999, SLIPKNOT’s self-titled debut was more than just a breakthrough — it was a genre-redefining event. The mix of violent percussion, searing guitar work, and venomous lyricism — coupled with Ross Robinson’s gritty production — set a new standard in heavy music.
“We loved what we did with the first record,” said guitarist Jim Root. “But we didn’t even know if there was gonna be anything after that. We just wanted people to hear it.”
The rest, of course, is history.
Two Decades of Carnage and Culture Shaping
Since their debut, SLIPKNOT has:
- Earned 64 major award nominations and 27 wins, including a Grammy for “Before I Forget”
- Released multiple platinum and gold records
- Achieved tens of billions of streams and built a massive global fanbase
- Headlined the world’s biggest festivals like Download, Hellfest, Rock in Rio, and Wacken
They also launched their own festival, Knotfest, in 2012, which became both a touring juggernaut and a digital media platform via Knotfest.com.
Still Connecting with the Maggots
As founding member Shawn “Clown” Crahan puts it:
“Every time I’ve walked on stage, it’s never been about how many people are there because my culture, the Maggots, always show up.”
With this 25th anniversary edition, SLIPKNOT is honoring that culture by bringing fans as close as possible to the origins of the band — unfiltered, unrefined, and unstoppable.
